A Dollar More
The sun licked his face
As he walked along
Neck covered in lace
Nothing could go wrong
Head held high, prideful,
He thought to himself
Money feeds the soul
But though on his shelf
Lay riches galore
He couldn’t smile
He just wanted more
Cash, lifes only worthwhile
Till one cloudy day
He started to think
As the sun went away
Looking for the missing link
Why was he not happy
When he earned a dollar more
Why didn’t he work gladly
When he grew richer encore
Hands in his hands
He fought the urge to cry
Name through the lands
Yet he could not lie
His heart wanted out
He had more than enough
“I quit!”, comes a shout
Thought it was but a bluff
But off he went
Just him and the sunset
He borrowed and lent
Happiness he’d met
