In August of 2007 I was in a car versus pedestrian accident. I was the pedestrian. I could have easily been killed. It is a bit surprising that I wasn't. I suffered a compound fracture to the tibia in my left leg. I spent a week in Harborview Trauma Center in Seattle Washington and a month in a physical rehabilitation facility in Centralia Washington. It took three years and five surgeries to get my leg completely healed.
While I was at the PT facility, Carrie Underwood's song "So Small" was released. The official music video of the song premiered on
Country Music Television. The video shows the story of three individuals who make bad decisions and are given a second chance, which was especially poignant to me given the situation in which I found myself. I highly recommend you watch the video. I have linked the title of the song to the YouTube video in the section of this blog where I include the lyrics to the song.
Carrie Underwood is an American singer. She rose to prominence after winning the fourth season of American Idol in 2005. Underwood's single "Inside Your Heaven" made her the first country artist to debut atop the Billboard Hot 100 chart and the only solo country artist in the 2000s to have a number-one song on the Hot 100. Her debut album, Some Hearts (2005), was bolstered by the successful crossover singles "Jesus, Take the Wheel" and "Before He Cheats", becoming the best-selling solo female debut album in country music history. She won three Grammy Awards for the album, including Best New Artist. The next studio album, Carnival Ride (2007) had one of the biggest opening weeks of all time by a female artist and won two Grammy Awards. Her third studio album, Play On (2009), produced the single "Cowboy Casanova", which had one of the biggest single-week upward movements on the Hot 100. ~Wikipedia

SO SMALL
(Click on the title to watch the video)
Yeah, yeah
What you got if you ain't got love
The kind that you just want to give away
It's okay to open up
Go ahead and let the light shine through
I know it's hard on a rainy day
You wanna shut the world out and just be left alone
But don't run out on your faith
'Cause sometimes that mountain you've been climbing
Is just a grain of sand
And what you've been out there searching for forever
Is in your hands
And when you figure out love is all that matters after all
It sure makes everything else seem so small
It's so easy to get lost inside
A problem that seems so big at the time
It's like a river that's so wide it swallows you whole
While you're sittin' 'round thinking about what you can't change
And worrying about all the wrong things
Time's flying by, moving so fast
You better make it count 'cause you can't get it back
Sometimes that mountain you've been climbing
Is just a grain of sand
And what you've been out there searching for forever
Is in your hands
Oh, and when you figure out love is all that matters after all
It sure makes everything else
Seem so small, yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah
Sometimes that mountain you've been climbing
Is just a grain of sand
And what you've been out there searching for forever
Is in your hands
Oh-oh, and then you figure out love is all that matters after all
It sure makes everything else
Oh, it sure makes everything else
Seem so small
Yeah, yeah
