Gary Watkins Poem
You've got to choose,
to walk in those shoes,
to pay your dues,
to sing the blues.
Something so right,
all shiny and bright,
don't just come in the night,
you've got to bleed and fight!
And when you are winning,
it's just the beginning,
there'll always be new things,
out there for the taking.
Bells, whistles, and fluff,
how much is enough?
Do you need all this stuff?!
Can you call your own bluff?

Moonrise,
wolf cries.
Owl glides.
mouse hides.
Black masks
raid trash.

Gary Watkins Poem
Winter Blues
A cold chill filled the air.
A frost lay on the grass.
I didn't see the ice
and fell upon my ass.
I stood up very slowly,
with many huffs and groans,
my whole attention focused
on the aching in my bones.
Some think the season's lovely,
with snowball fights and such,
until it's time to shovel,
then they don't like it much!
Next year will be much different,
at least from where I stand.
I'm moving to Miami,
and working on my tan!

Gary Watkins Poem
A language with so many sides
makes it hard to decide
which words I should use.
I get so confused!
Don’t throw out the baby with spilled milk?
Turn a sow’s ear into a purse of silk?
That bridge has sailed or burned, I’m told,
It seems this dog has grown too old!
A house of cards divided can’t win them all?
The grass is always greener before the fall?
I really should be sawing logs,
Instead, I’m kicking sleeping dogs!
A bird in the hand gathers no moss?
When you come to that bridge, look before you cross?
My chickens hatched before I could count them,
And there is no brass ring at the rainbow’s end!
