Michael Degenhardt Poem
I wept upon the news deployed
For now within, exists a void
My heart has stopped, it’s turned about
For life with love is now without
Now cast away, the physical form
I await the fate, to be reborn
To one day greet you there, again
The Gates of Heaven then let us in
Hand in hand, we move ahead
As souls permit, though bodies’ dead
A smile to you I then will give
For past our deaths, I know we’ll live

Michael Degenhardt Poem
The trees are bare, now comes cold air
The breezes howl this night
I’m toasty warm, secured by charm
As we hold each other tight
This winter evening…
As the sun descends…
The moon is smiling…
No love pretends…
It’s all for real, dear…
As we stay inside…
The winter frowns…
While in here, we hide…
Our winter pleasures…
Are year round dreams…
When come the fires…
With snow filled scenes…
We’ll feel the softness…
As our hands embrace…
Reflecting fires, bright…
With red cheeked face…
Winter winds chasing, while love’s erasing
The many sounds we hear
We’re holding so tight, by the fire this night
As our bodies stay so near
Old mister winter…
Turn away from our door…
For we won’t answer…
We won’t give you more…
The room is ignited…
By this fire inside…
On this winter evening…
In here, we’ll hide…

Michael Degenhardt Poem
The shattered mirror is all that remains of her past life
Symbolizing the broken spirit of her battered soul
Yet, so reflective of light and visual interpretation
She can see where she was and where she is now
It holds not her spirit within the confine of the looking glass
As she had escaped upon the day she broke it apart
She is strong now as she looks upon it, she even smiles
Realizing, she is not the reflection of life, but the self before it

Michael Degenhardt Poem
A child shrieks on darkness’ edge
For fear of what’s within the black
A tense reaction, shivering too
At thoughts of something to attack
But no, there’s nothing that so comes
Yet, child cries and prays for light
With blanket pulled above the brow
He does his best to cope with fright
He fears the coming of the night
And prays that all will turn out right
His eyes so close before the dawn
As sleep prevails and fear subsides
So stretching then on morning’s wake
From the bed, he leaves to rise
The fear he had was but erased
As light had won the battle well
With feet then touching on the floor
A new fear came and then he fell
As talons clawed, he met his doom
The child had never escaped his room

Michael Degenhardt Poem
Crazy is defined by the crazy things you do
Really crazy things are just too crazy, too
A crazy person laughs when no one is around
Zealous crazy people are too busy to be found
Yes, crazy is as crazy does, who really can define?
Your definition of crazy is well kept in your mind.
Even when you’re normal, crazy still remains
Some keep crazy in their hearts, to look like they’re still sane.

Michael Degenhardt Poem
This winter’s eve,
so clear, so bright
That crispness felt
when out this night
The sky’s alive,
with lights above
Symbols of hope
symbols of love
The greatest light
therein the scene
That’s looked upon
by king and queen
Is that which makes
the nighttime view
But when I saw the moon…
I thought of you
For radiance is not
the light above
It’s of the heart,
defined as love
It’s personified grace
You so you possess
That makes me feel
That I am blessed
Each night as when
the moon’s in view
I’ll look again
… see only you

Michael Degenhardt Poem
Oh, I am so angered, outraged and appalled
I think that I’m going bald
My dad had great hair
So I never really cared
But, to the hair club for men I am called
From my butt, they could extract some hair
Because I think I have so much to spare
But I cannot tell
Do you think it would smell?
Oh well I think, I’ll just leave it there

Michael Degenhardt Poem
As my hands reach out before me
It touches nothing but air
Where have you gone my love?
My heart, it sings for you
But you are not there to hear it
Where have you gone my love?
Have I descended upon the barren moon,
Where desert sands seem my outlook?
Have I wandered a lonely path,
Where night greets me with solitude?
Come back, grab my hand,
Listen to my heart and then
Listen to your heart
For it will be then
That neither of us will be …alone

Michael Degenhardt Poem
Worlds apart, yet so very close
As two hearts can beat as one
The sun shines upon us both
Then evening moon does come
We share a place we call our own
When the moon then sheds its light
We meet there, in shadow cast
As day turns into night
You wait for me in lover’s robe
As I come into view
The smile that you give to me
I then give back to you
With your hand, you take my own
You lead me to your tree
Beneath the arms, its mighty limbs
We share love, you and me
Betwixt by nighttime’s hidden glow
Our hearts then shine, form light
Caressing skin, with lips so soft
We bathe in our delight
As the moon, so then descends
To the other side of the earth
We whisper into each other’s ears
A thanks for our rebirth

Michael Degenhardt Poem
I cannot help but smile at the very thought of you
You create an image of loveliness that so inspires
For deep within this man rages a fire burning true
The very thought of you releases new desires
You create an image of loveliness that so inspires
Your face of beauty gives my mind words to write
The very thought of you releases new desires
As poetic fires burn from the flames you so ignite
Your face of beauty gives my mind words to write
So all come together then, neatly and with flow
As poetic fires burn from the flames you so ignite
Your beauty gives my poems light, eternal glow
So all come together then, neatly and with flow
For deep within this man rages a fire burning true
Your beauty gives my poems light, eternal glow
I cannot help but smile at the very thought of you
