Classical is from the Middle Ages
in the mid-1940's we had Bebop
a fast-tempo 19th / 20th century Jazz
then along came Doo-wop
with group harmonies
the 50's brought us rock and roll
which developed the 1960's
(sad to say) Disco and its glitter ball
then psychedelic pop rock
blues and folk rock
and in the 1970's it was Hip-hop
and also Rap
which was misspelt
it should read 'Crap'
the 1980's were synthesised
1990's gave us Garage and Grunge
2020's saw online streaming
by the record industry which makes me cringe
Country music (C&W) too (hit or flop)
I know it's true I left out (Reggae) more than a few
but no matter the genre tempo or key
the self-same seven notes do it for eclectic me
fee- foo she wanna groove
give her space
so she can move
caught the beat cause the beat is funky
drop down
like ah funky monkey
study bouis
to pass yo' test
caught the groove when the
beat is fresh
dance a little
shang ah ling
come on baby
won't you do yo' thang
skop woop dee- dah dough
nappy headed afro
stringy hair
kinky too
gelled back
and plaited-up crew
getting it in
cause ya know you next
gone girl and cash that check
grind yo' thing
and get change foo twenty
swip swoop dat beat is
funky
John John impressed me with his DooWop Lim
I'm in awe of his talents, wish I could be like him
A rookie but yes
You surely guessed
With musical limericks, he's loaded to the brim
Just came from a Doo Wop show -
Such energy! Such fun!
The spotlight managed to be shared,
All night, by everyone.
No prima donnas here, just folks
Performing from the heart,
With such excitement on their faces,
From the very start.
The audience did whoop and cheer
And gave their full support.
The singers gave their all
And not a one of them fell short.
My daughter was among them
And she nailed her parts just right.
I'm sure she'd love that much attention
Every single night.
Performances are special
And this one was so, indeed,
For each person on that stage
Has what we'd call a "special need."
press play to doo wop
digging authenticity
loving it to life!
Isn't this a sweet picture my friends
Sipping sodas after the hop
Much too young to remember this music
Doo-wop was Mom's and Pop's
Was just a wee tike in diapers then
Sucking on my thumb
Still was quite the ladies man though
Traveling around on my bum
Seem to be picking up negative vibes
About what I'm saying here
Have I ever lied to you people before
I'm not giving you the gears
Okay okay I've decided to come clean
Sipped sodas after the hop
That's where I met my first true love
First ever to say 'doo-wop'
So beat me up with a bunch of wet noodles
I've led you poor guys astray
My evil twin is now running the show
Lost control of what I say

For today Doo-Wop daydreaming am I.
Oh, such beautiful, soulful poetry!
Vocals of Bass and Tenor touching I.
Rock-And-Roll of old; Sweet its poetry!
