I thought I needed a wheelbarrow
Ordered a blue one and was cleaning up my yard piles
When I discovered the identical one, I had purchased last year
The perils of being a spendthrift!!
Perfection as a goal demands correction;
accepting mistakes requires some reflecting..
Call me a square if you like but I'll admit
when it comes to money, I keep short accounts.
Simplicity puts tender in the kitty;
humility builds reckoning, quality.
It can be smart to start with "I am sorry,"
then move on to square up any damage done.
Meeting with candor - never self-defeating.
treating others as fellows means no cheating;
While allowing for the factor of mercy
the product of two equal terms becomes square.
If you owe me something, I won't cause a rift.
Swift resolution counts, I am no spendthrift.
Square dealings focus on making all sides straight;.
such practice eliminates hate and distrust.
Wasteful can't succeed
Due to fear of poverty
Plus, spring with greed.
Laden with delights
whether PF Changs, Carmines
or Noodles.
The buffet, one dish at a time
arrives - raviolis, lasagna, cheese toast,
steak, salad and much more.
The talk amidst the food - “Taste it,”
“What’s your favorite?” “There’s the Titanic!”
The dessert didn’t float, did fall on its side,
did delight the table eyes.
The King’s Table, stabilized the reunion of family
and friends. Comfort food with roulette and dice.
All pitched in a few bucks but the King
was the biggest giver - he has a spendthrift heart.
A Graham used to wealth lavish
And to easy fun The slavish:
In the two had not seen blemish
"Let those who wish it be squeamish!"
Now, it is Graham's white wedding;
He knows where the thing is heading:
Skin to Excesses just deaden
Or wife's face might, sometimes, redden...
"Means I'll have to my belt tighten;
That way all my problems lighten:
What man does, his future brightens
And the blackest of scenes whitens!"
A married spendthrift readjusts
Or faces dragging in the dusts...

We have body-vehicles; "I'm my car," is like thinking you are poultry

Earthly problems drag us to poultry level.
Recall you are an eagle; fly with eagles
A spendthrift lady in New Orleans
clothed her wolfhound beyond her means
But he despised his top hats
and old-fashioned spats
Now he sports tie-died T-shirts and jeans
Gluttony takes no prisoners,
And leaves nothing behind to grow,
Except the need for more.
Gluttony unchecked will end our planets usefulness,
But not our usefulness,
In helping Gluttony get to more and more planets.
More, more, more, and ever more,
Is Gluttony's call to all but the wiry,
And the spendthrift,
The non-alcoholic,
And the tree Hugger,
The Hermit,
And the one actually on a diet.
But is six enough,
To reverse the damage,
From decades of overindulgence?
There is only love
when we leave the other
behind – our world of others:
Commitments deemed by
self so paramount,
we become perpetually
addicted to treadmills;
inducted wrong-tracks
adhering as a second
skin –
The rain can
fall but the plain will never
give back, if the permeable
depths irretrievably
No benefit by making
of one's self a non
irrigable desert –
having wandered too far and
stored up too little –
the well used sayings
about burning bridges
and being a spendthrift,
they apply to the heart and
soul as well--
Love often...but wisely....
A whirlwind of a pugilist,
With punches that could crush a cyst,
In the admirers eyes summoning Mist,
The Destroyed by him a long list,
Many of them by their families missed…
He got them down but still them kissed,
Of a Life-and-Death business making a tryst,
You’d tag it a party and your own waist twist.

With laughing legs but a crying fist,
Timing his demolitions with the watch on your wrist.
This treasuring and it never was ceased,
Many faces lighting up as many getting creased,
Of those who got its “He’s the Greatest!” gist.
Sadly, he hadn’t his Parkinson sniffed,
Angels hadn’t worried too to have us briefed,
Only us radioed his domestic squabbles and rift,
For his ring legacy, a displeasing gift…
Towards an uncheery finale did he drift:
My Gemini Twin and former spendthrift.
A poet cannot be frugal,
miserly with his thoughts
and feeling; but, indeed,
a rabid spendthrift, where
there are matters of the
heart – a radiating sun
when his soul uncovered...
though we are beings of
vast contrast, Light when
Write, painfully dark when
venturing into silent
shadows – those aching
lulls when muted – the
thunder when speaking
with God-like temperament,
pianissimos, fortified by
deep breaths of character
possessing blazing conviction –
a poet, atypical in his world
as the priest who bravely
ventures outside his scriptures,
having realized faith a doorway
and not a cloistered prison....
“He's out of his league” the saying goes
Deliver the words to a poignant rapture
Along the way and through the never
Success brings a certain stumbling
Darker each day, the writing withers
Even the best delay induction
Fortune belies the power to run
A mind to the source instruction
Since a spendthrift soon wilts
Better to crack wide-open throttle
Rather than bottle what cannot be stopped
Stamped incongruent but not incomplete
Your money,your belongings you are the adviser,
Spend,not a spendthrift nor going miser!
Had we but oil enough and gas,
All welfare bill would easily pass,
And we’d be spending hard, I bet,
Without incurring any debt.
You, on the Moon, would keep your bees
And tend to Martian refugees;
And I would sleep all day, in mirth,
Upon the lap of Mother Earth.
And I would send such cash to you
As to convert a die-hard Jew.
And I would pay an arm and a leg
To have my raincoat hung on a peg.
And to unpeg it, as it goes,
I’d pay, most gladly, through the nose.
But in my yard, each morn, I see
No oil or gas in front of me.
No one sends manna from the skies;
Not even Salomon the Wise.
Before you give, you first must have:
There are no bulls where cows don’t calve.
It’s good to have a kingly heart,
But spendthrift kingdoms fall apart.
Therefore, as we cannot grow rich
By drilling ground or digging a ditch,
We’d better find another way
To safely make ends meet today.
Let us make haste and use our strength,
For only then shall we, at length,
Reboot our brains, by lies undone,
And set them free, and make them run.
