Hard Lessons
Hard Lessons

Life’s hard knocks is one way that men can learn
Some knowledge is better gained
Secondhand, without pain…

Hear
Stuck in front of camera
waiting to hear the cut
Speaking words secondhand
And thinking all unthought
And letters old as time
cower in the shadow of forgotten
and communication
Just
lines of ones and noughts...

Seasonal sea horse and sea lions named Sue
Searching for a secluded seat in sea urchin’s seaweed.
Secreting secret signs, settling in a sailor’s simple shoe.
Securing secondhand seafarers, a signature of a sesame seed....

Smoking With a Secondhand Lovers
it was almost midnight and we

with our fingers laced around Marlboro beyond blue cigarettes

were staring out the window

which was open so that our guilt and smoke could escape on the wind

and we wouldn’t get caught....

I Touch Invisible
I touch invisible
like love in "3-D"
thankful that tears and sarcasm
are clear

I touch invisible
like ribbons of smoke from a cigarette
stain the air
love, like secondhand smoke

I watch invisible
drifting farther and further away
in love invisible
married to a memory...

The Seconhand Emotion
You said you loved me
But behind your eyes
I saw another

Your lips told me
I was secondhand shopping
And I was but - second best

I could never own your words
For their value fell short
Of my heart

Cant Hold These Leaves
Darkness hovers over this tree,
The chains of bondage deceive thee,
Oh shake them off through each new breeze,
The devils grin can’t hold these leaves,
Beneath the bark nourishing sap does lie,
The sweetest taste awaits its sky,
Just shake them off through each new breeze,
The devils grin can’t hold these leaves.

She
i remember when this woman came to me ,
in search of love to set her free.
i told her that she must understand,
that the love she seeks is secondhand.
and i suppose it would be only fair ,
to warn u that it will not wear.
for my heart was single not it's a twin,
for it never have to search for love again.
and now that i've found my counterpart ,
'ill never again bear an aching heart...

Cimmerian Desires
Those dark furtive eyes,
into my own they secretly pry.
Orbs of obsidian deep,
my discipline I can barely keep.

Gaze further into my eyes,
bare me so I tell no lies.
Shred off every inch of my defense,
mesmerize me into submission like incense.

It`s driving me insane,
render me pleasure and pain.
Fill my heart with sin,
make me into someone I`ve never been.

Live Baits
An autopsy was being conducted
with brutality
to silence the rising dialogue,

pulling out the lethal crunch
of scripted history.
You want the kiss of a parting grain.

A secondhand face crops
up in a newspaper. Are you ashamed
of curtains ? They have covered

all the skeletons. The tangerines,
why do I remember them
like juicy lips in dark.

We are going to bungle together,
decked up to receive the body
of a honed player.

July Rain
Every now and then,
a tear appears in my eye
when I think back
of beautiful you and July.

You were mine once,
but I lost you in the fray;
my head was hung low
when you set your wedding day.

I knew you looked stunning
in your white gown and train;
after that, my days were
filled with cold, driven rain.

You are always in my eye,
it should have been us that July.

Momentum
playing' for change
turn on a dime

inna New York minute
the blinked eye

Fates heaven sent
this turn of events

gain the momentum
angels sent 'em

tide is turning
elation or angst

dare we dream
not what it seems

level suddenly tips
secondhand slips

avalanche breaks
trivial mistakes

everything changes
the world rearranges

mass and its velocity
a beautiful atrocity

seen from your eyes
looking so surprised
