Snow
cotton hills rise up
to clasp the colorful sky ---
melt into failure

freezing soon again
flickers into silver foils ---
fluorescent earth

Watch what happens
As you sit still
And time lengthens
To flex your will
And thoughts feel slow
On drowsy face
As a blur glow
Foils words that pace.

Foils and perils
Horrifying and terrible
Well documented after the fact
Misunderstood totally at the time

Fouls and perils
Shoved to the back of your mind
To be brought out and made fun
During family gatherings...

Nostalgia
I look upon this weary ground as my bare foot touches the holy soil why is this? We no longer bound we love ourselves… and we became foils some fight for money, some fight for glory but I will always fight for memento mori

"Whatcha gonna do with that 6-pack, man?"
You could share it can by can.
I’d be happy if you ran
one past me as we tan,
stylin’ in the latest Ray-Ban.

You asked a question, and my thoughts began
	about what's beneath your tan.
My eyes 'neath these Ray-Bans scan
other eyes. It foils my plan.
	Wanna climb into my van?

9
Once a cute little bedraggled stray
who wore a tuxedo colored gray
charmed his way into our home to stay.

Regal, royal ruler of the floor
howling, yowling, mewling, “Feed me more!”
Escape artist foils guard at the door.

Now the dish is gone, the house is still,
no pattering paws, no purring trill.
Bones laid to rest on top of a hill....

Stubby Brown Pencil.
The stubby brown pencil
Will it make some marks?
On the white blank sheet spread
Where thoughts can be stored
To ponder over backwards
Amid avalanches of motives
Often habitually sliding
In moods of darker futility.

Finding solace in crumpled sheets
In foils of curtain hung around
The window that helps to preview
Some dimensions beyond the
Stagnant waters of the constants....

Ah yes…..the R U L E S
those everpresent
everchanging R U L E S
those evertightening
straightjackets
of F O O L S
as folly’s foils
these lovers
oh so C R U E L
must meet at dawn
in wordless D U E L
ten paces
no deviations
it’s an ancient F OR M
entrenched
insanity as N O R M
one shot
two F O O L S
discussion settled
oh….. those R U L E S

Blunder blames bite

Prime profound pound

Drill deeper dance
Charm crafty chance

Live laughing laze
Meet mindless maze

Drill distant doom
Glance grouchy gloom

Pay plenty praise
Rich rapture raise

Niche nimble near
Fun foils fear

Be blessing bright
Seek soaring sights

Nightly Sublimation
By Mark Raymond Miller © 1/04/2018

Brace into frail wisp sleep
To own fear's blind belief

Undertow foils sunrise break
Through misty green storms

Born of censor fatal shade
Smother sands coil space

Hidden present ready fogs
Distant past regression

Under sun drenched sky appears
Matters born unspoken

Covered infants alloy thrown
Under trapped ice overture

Sounds solvent stricture screams
From children lost at sea...

Forever Verona
A Montague. A Capulet.
‘Twas at a masquerade they met.
Two strangers caught each other's eyes
as strains of love began to rise.

Upon a courtyard balcony,
amidst the angst of family,
‘twas there the pair professed love's need -
though Kismet's kiss would intercede.

Alas, the banes of passion bleed -
resolving gest through tragedy.
The foils of fate singed hot as coals
yet death would reunite their souls.

Two hearts in heaven overflow -
One Juliet. One Romeo....

Chipmunk
My coat streaked in shades of brown
My home borrowed in the ground

Cheeks full with summers plunder
Winter is coming will there be enough I wonder

Nuts and seed are enough to please
For these I gather with expertise

Shucking and shelling to reveal my foils
Carefully tucking them away so not a one spoils

They say I'm a mammal small in size
I say please don't chastise

For that little debility
I make for with speed and agility

For I am Chipmunk
Not some little punk...

Yes I recall so many things:
The crash and fall of broken swings,
Such bitter gall that pain did bring,
Both big and small unhappy flings.

Yes I can feel the groans of pain:
A wounded will of broken grains,
Such shattered spills as loss marked plain,
Yet glimpsed goodwill in loss and gain.

Yes memory collects odd spoils:
A poignant tree where senses oil,
Seize harmony as passion foils,
Live what may be love’s human soil.
