That is right August 18,
Today Is National "Bad" Poetry Day.
To all the writers,
here is your chance.
Write something "Great,"
for the world to read.
How about,
National "Great" Poetry Day???
Remember a rhyme is to rhyme,
not kind of rhyme.
A Limerick is to be a five line funny,
not sad or depressing.
A true writer,
writes from their loving and creative heart.
AI writes,
but has no heart to write from.
Many have told me,
less words are more.
So I am stopping here,
so you can add to my list.
Have fun day writing away....
Autumn with all the metaphors I can muster
The beauty of the season and it's golden luster
The raking of leaves
And cleaning of eaves
And my annual trip to the back adjuster
Who can say when the last bell will chime
Only he knows when the end of time
Most the message won't heed
Some will gather what they need
While I just write some words that rhyme
We recently went to the zoo,
sadly there were animals few.
Until we all saw,
which caused an uproar,
giraffes in the café shop queue.
I know a hole in the ground is not the end
I pray dear Lord forgive me of my sin
The end of the fence I can see
Heaven is where I want to be
So many people I want to see again
There once was a snowman named Ray
Who dreamed of a tropical bay
He packed his sunscreen
And flew to the scene
But melted as soon as he lay
*I wrote this poem on January 19, 2024, as part of a ’30 days of poetry’ January challenge. This was day 19 and the prompt was: Can you write a funny limerick about a snowman who wants to go on holiday?
She never liked it here this her confession
I knew all along I had a connection
her husband passed away
and the very next day
A rental truck in the funeral procession
There was a server at the local cafe you see
Who got in trouble when refilling cups of coffee
Many said just a shot
Half a cup was said a lot
But she lost her job when one said hit me
