Never a Marxist
I didn’t like Groucho
And though I read Spanish
forget Sancho Panza
I was a big Lenin fan
John, not Vlady --

Today my likes and dislikes
blow hot and cold
which is likely to happen

I am the knight-errant, he sang in a loud excited way.
riding his horse Rocinante, each and every day.
his pot-bellied friend Sancho Panza continued to stay.
even though tricks were played on them here and far away.
my dear Dulcinea will be around the next corner Quixote sang.
his voice was confident, his verses happy, his melody ring rang.
his squire Sancho drummed his donkey’s saddle with a bang.
Dulcinea again, always Ducinea, this made him think “dang!”
she will reside past the windmills, Don Quixote predicted.
his sidekick wanted to believe, but they were both often trickt-ed.
the gentleman from La Mancha and his sidekick did not know
their story was touted as the first novel, and soon made into a show.
Man of la Mancha
Has no idea I am a dragon
He thinks I am a dog
With a tail that is a’wagg’n.
His sidekick Panza knows
But does not give it away.
I love spending time with them.
They know how to laugh and play.
Sancho Panza loaned his trusty donkey to Don Quixote
they had finally reached the village of the gorgeous Dulcinea.
Baskets brimming with excited sunflowers would be delivered.
The squire congratulated himself for getting the knight-errant here.
He sat back to watch the performance, as Quixote began to sing.
it was a dark and stormy night
a flick of a bic
and a radioactive polonium glow
he said he went ballistic
the other day
it was all over an interpretation
of what,
a psychotic little smile
I'm just Sancho Panza
a sidekick in this life
it's all good
I suppose.

The Heavens look down--
Don Quixote & Sancho Panza
jousting at windmills--

We grimace ... Heaven grins

Don Quixote goes down the path in the wilderness groping the way
stepping on the dead leaves carrying the weight of the sitting sun
that is too much for him to carry on his crooked back.
Although he once mounted a horseback high with stately air
holding a spear under his arm, spurring a horse on to gallop freely
through the wilderness sweeping all obstacles away with the spear,
now he goes through the wilderness hanging on his useless broken spear stick.
Since Sancho Panza is no longer with him, he is a disgraced knight
without an obedient servant; since Rozinante is not with him any more,
he is a dishonored knight without a trusty steed.
And I go with my seedy shadow laid under his pathetic shadow
that moves awkwardly in the red of the setting sun.
Sancho Panza told Marisancha to pass the plate of Gazpacho
she was screwy and forgot the cue and passed the plate to Cascajo
Sancho hit Mari, Casca hit Panza
Alonso rushed in, gravy bonanza
"Don Quixote de la Mancha" hailed Don Miguel's Alonso Quijano
fire burns when the arousal comes,
and heat that almost burns the thumbs,
where to put me diddle dum?
damn it take your chances,
the sweetest of romances,
in heaven i be chum,
pass the fourex son, (beer 5%)
thirsty work for some,
the horizontal dancers,
the diddling has been done:)
Is her daddy that bloody rancher?
nah it's Sancho Panza....

Hail to the Knight of Woeful Countenance,
the impossible dream with lance in hand.
Alonzo had dreamed, dreams of ambiance.
Knight, Don Quixote, rose in allegiance
The man from La Mancha, felt in demand
Hail to the Knight of Woeful Countenance.
His squire Sancho Panza, flaunted the stance
From old Rocinante, slain windmills at hand.
Alonzo had dreamed, dreams of ambiance.
His make believe love, a one way advance.
Dulcinea, ……………..gets no wedding band.
Hail to the Knight of Woeful Countenance.
Castles and mules and a loser’s penance.
Bound by the rules only Knights understand
Alonzo had dreamed, dreams of ambiance
Retiring, a dream brings him assurance
New found sanity, he swears with raised hand
Hail to the Knight of Woeful countenance
Alonzo had dreamed, dreams of ambiance

Write me a Lightfoot Poem
Don Quixote
Don Quixote spiked the windmill,
Sancho Panza surely frowned,
Just then the wind began to billow,
Blades dehorsed him, slapped Quixote down,
Back upon his faithful mount,
With Sancho getting up to speed,
for the love of Dulcinea
Will she marry him indeed.
Riding on his mule is Sancho Panza,
Squire of the Don is he,
Like the Aussie soldier Digger,
Rode behind a pommy General, see,
Depriving him of dignity…
(Don Quixote…Gordon Lightfoot)
WW1 soldier rode his donkey, the Digger was also wearing a monocole like the officer, right behind a visiting mounted English General, who was not amused….

Tough time – the economic crisis for a short period
Sometimes for the five members there’ll be few bread.
Mother would declare she'd already her share of bread
“I was soo……. hungry, I had mine” she would add.
Dad, sacrificing his life for my higher education
Worked in a rustic village and living in seclusion.
Scene changed with newly built house quite pleasing
With my name plate "Dr. Ram Mehta, Litt.D" hanging.
Scene changed with those sacrifices in matured years
Acting Moliere in France, in U.K. visit to bards’ houses.
Attending the poetry conferences in three continents
Retired life with kids in USA and India, both democracies.
