Premium Member Flowering of Spring

Amassed in flamboyant Azalea blooms when my garden is free of the cold.
Bird of Paradise, dressed in purple and orange, wear their colors so bold.
Crocus bloom when the mounds of snow finally melt and say, "Goodbye."
Daffodils display delightful faces and seem to be greeting me with a, "Hi."
Easter Cactus in pink and salmon, adds bursts of color in hanging pots.
Favorite in my garden are the carpets of romantic little Forget-Me-Nots.
Gardenia shrubs line my walkways with sweetest scent to tempt the bees.
Hyacinths are compact flowers on a single stem, but cause me to sneeze.
In early Spring my beds of Irises trumpet that a new season has begun.
Jasmine on the vine attracts hummingbirds in my garden spots full of sun.
Kerria bushes keep my yard enhanced in shades of chartreuse and gold.
Lily of the Valley is said to bring lots of happiness to the young and old.
Mock Orange, a pretty perfumed flower, prim and proper in purest white.
Nandina, Heavenly Bamboo, have bronzed red leaves of medium height.
Oleander clusters are a riot of color on the end of green foliage so tall.
Peonies add charm and grace in pink pastels all along my garden wall.
Queen of the Prairie in the landscape, reach up to the sun and the sky.
Rusty Foxglove is a late Spring perennial, I find very pleasing to the eye.
Sharing a treasured vase with them, I will select the lovely Shasta Daisy.
Three Lobe Spirea (Bridal Veil), is so easy to grow it could make me lazy.
Under the shade trees grow Urn Bromiliads, on driftwood from the river.
Verbena is Queen of the rock garden, in shades of burgundy she'll deliver.
Wisteria, in white or lavender, hangs in sadness until it withers away to die.
Xylosma blooms in masses of berries, in hedge rows of separation they lie.
Yarrow's blossoms are medicinal, likes dry soil and an occasional drought.
Zesty Zephyr Lily can grow in the wild but it's one I could never do without.

Solid gray skies
   Over daylilies trying to bloom
    Several different species so colorful
Open only a day, live life to the fullest
What have I done with my nearly 29,151 days

Birds fly in
  Mostly to feed from birdseeds
The feeders need a refill so they can eat
Those birds usually fly in, overfill before a rain
Another day of possible showers so they have to eat

Fresh seed put out
  Mockingbirds zoom across flowerbeds
Land, catch a bug, zoom out
Another mockingbird lands on the cement
          Bobbles along like a roadrunner

Redbirds flock in
Hit the red feeder that matches his color, perfect camouflage
Boy, he is eating gourmet food
      From the buffet
Rakes out what he doesn't like

Sparrows fly in
   Feast upon the discarded seed
      That landed upon the cement
They gobble up those small seeds
Fill up in just a small amount of time

Female red cardinal
Flies in and lands on a wood feeder, aged, grayed with time
It seems to match her color perfectly
She is harder to see since she blends in
She fills up and flies away

Amazing
   No susurrus in the pines
No crows cawing all the time
Just the symphony of songbirds tickling my ears
And the cymbals clanging out woodpecker's notes

A few minutes out on the porch
   How it makes my day
Now a zephyr begins to move
        Stirring the asparagus and spirea
Wow! A break in the clouds.

The sunlight beams
   Casting its morning light
      Across my wildest dreams
A flower garden with more plants
To feed the birds, bees and butterflies

Thank you
  God for your creation
    For your gift of flowers
A mixture of clouds, rain and sunshine
All of life upon this earth

Premium Member Sprung

Its ardor grew like the sprouts being verdant green,
As the lowliness of a meadow's reach for sun.
Their whispered breaths trails farewell to a doting Spring,

Neath the grassy spreads of life, seeks a saffron sky.
Enters the hoverance, flights a white dove anoints,
Midst the sanctity of two sovereign realms try.

Outstretched kingdoms, one for freedom, the other life,
Strengths of north fills a challenge for a mindful one,
Bugs bout as relief flies south, alive the wildlife.

Chills emboldens blades of light green of vale's floor,
Nigh, the lilacs stirs, awoke to the brisk breaker,
Met none worthy to stay, opens and yonders for more.

Draws, violets, lavenders and wisteria,
Borders a rising mound of tawny heights and greens,
Guarded by shrubs of small flowers called spirea.

Giant browns, statuesques greens, dwarfs all around their keeps,
Left to their girth an ancient value stems their growth,
Sets the stage for a different sort, anew reaps.

The stares of glowing eyes hides in thick overgrowths,
Brittle frames to large furs, fickle feet to sharp claws.
Ascends above, touch rays of love, its gifts promotes.

Heralds a summer, dales to hills of nature's laws,
We absorb the gales, walk trails, all in awes.

Premium Member Spring Flowers

After winter’s cold, Apple Blossoms unfold.
Bright, fresh spring brings Bluebells to behold.
Cheery Blossoms burst then dance to ground.
Delightful Dahlias bloom spring all around.
Eastern Redbuds warm cold winter emotion and
Fresh Freesia compliments each spring notion.
Gardenias touch each faith-filled belief.
Hardy Heath hones its spring dream leaf.
Impatiens show the power of flowers.
Jasmine’s scent is softly layered while
Kangaroo Paws hang from the upper air.
Lilacs quench thirsty human eyes as
Magnolias generate sincere, awed sighs.

Nippon Spirea buds use spring to tantalize.
Orchid blooms are a spring-spectacular and
Prime Primrose buds are ever popular.
Quality Quince pome fruit is a beauty.
Ready Ranunculus do their spring duty.
Springtime Sweet Peas and Spirea do their part.
Tender Tartarian Dogwoods warm our hearts.
Uplifting Ursinia blooms heed spring’s call.
Viburnum clusters daintily enthrall
While Wax flowers please us, one and all.
Xeranthemum Sunflowers’ charms never lack.
Yellow Anemone’s sweet power packs and
Zennias’ zest tell us that spring is back.

Premium Member Obsidian the Midnight Cat

I’m a midnight cat, by the name of Obsidian,
eyes golden by candlelight; by day they’re viridian.
As I lay here among my Mistress’s great books,
I am wondering what, for my supper, she’ll cook?

Mistress is a Seer, a Shaman, a Mage and
these books contain magic, spells upon every page.
This map too, is magic, it charts her course;
and shows her every single, natural resource.

For she gathers her herbs and plants for her magic;
to run out of these, for her, would be tragic.
She keeps everyone well, in our kingdom you see;
she even cures folks with extracts from trees!

You see, Nature provides, everything that we need;
though science won’t admit that better medicines, natural be.
There’s Digoxin from Foxglove and Aspirin from Spirea,
Ephedrine from Ephedra, it comes from various wild areas.

Once a nasty old doctor from a neighboring town,
tried hard to stop her from curing our Crown;
she concocted a potion from nature’s best weeds,
now that doctor, for her potions, pays money and pleads.

Battle of the Seasons

From the north he came nimbly in the night
	Softly silently bombing blanketing buds

Saturating each single stem
Snowy sneak attack barraging bombarding bark

Wracking white war-like wonder
	With relentless wrath and rage

Cardinal calling watching in wonder
Bright crimson claret buried between alabaster boughs

Chipmunk and squirrel shell-shocked
By snowy shrapnel scamper to shelter

Relentless yet irrelevant retreating rush
Futile effort from frosty frothy forces

Spring stands inescapable
	Flowers and flakes conflicted

Spring snowflake and spirea stand strong
	Bravely bearing banners high

As if to say, try as you may
Your day has passed ‘tis spring at last

Ol’ man winter wanes wails and warns
I shall seize the season someday soon …

Inspired by the 5”- 6” snowfall we have on March 26, 2011
after we had 80 degree weather last week.

reflections
IN MY GARDEN
I think,
day dream I suppose..
thoughts drift in as images...
In this quiet
I am so alone ...
....then I pick up a pen
MID SUMMER DAY
asleep,dreaming
imagination takes hold
its wings await...
EVOLUTION
a caterpillar on the Spirea...
...later
a chrysalis becomes a butterfly
SUNSHINE
Today has been fair
tonight still very blue
the wind blows..
Summer's supple glove
to caress flowers in bloom
ON A SEASHORE...
Infinite purples
rainbow fragments
spindrift,many-hued gossamer
....where,thoughts ebb and flow
AUGUST 31
Today,finale-
Warm,sunfilled and set so fair;
Farewell
Long,sweet summer rare

May show us how beautiful you are
A Spirea blooms like a beautiful and white cloud in the garden
Beautiful spring bride
Dressed with creation she herself had designed
A golden ring of eternal happiness
The veil thin and beautiful like cobwebs kisses her cheek

May is the month with wonderful contrasts
As sure as the sun rises each morning
When I turn my face toward the warm sun
I feel it gives me new energy

Seventeenth of May is Norway's National Day
We lift up the flag in red, white and blue
Freedom
The sky is blue, as far as the eye can see
A celebration of sun, spring, life and eternal love
