On the path of the colorful trees, in autumn days I walk;
And I am filled with the beautiful sights and forest sounds.
In the chill season of glory, upon a vivid nature catwalk,
Acorns and leaves are falling, and perfect silence abounds,
Save the haunting autumnal birdsong, which forever surrounds.
The frenzied squirrels are feasting, and leaves rustle slow,
And lemony sunshine lends its cheer, amid a steady falling,
Adding to final moments of foliate glow, for the world below.
Now sunlit hours are fleeting, as time's no longer crawling,
And the robustness and comfort, of evening fires are calling.

Outside, the still
of crickets.
Inside, petals
of a cold sore
foliate,
a boutonniere
for full lips.
Looking up, I tell her
two eggs, basted,
hash browns,
coffee now.
Later on,
she says
the birthmark
I found
south of her navel
she’s had
all her life.
