When the Language Merge**

I walked into Bobby Department Store and yelled, “Where are the Jamaicans and Barbadians?” This might sound a little strange to most people; however, it’s that time of year when all the languages and dialects merge, accompanied by the authentic accents from their respective places. Plus, there's always a bit of rudeness as people wait in long lines. Yet, amidst it all, the joy of Christmas still shines through in their voices.

Christmas is that one time of year when you can be happy without needing a reason. I could hear conversations like, “I want to mail this barrel by next week, but I know they won’t get it before next year.” As an outsider eavesdropping on these conversations, I sometimes think, “What is this barrel they are talking about? A barrel of rum? A barrel of Jack Daniel’s? A barrel of monkeys? What barrel?”

Yes, Bubba! That barrel is filled with gifts and food for their families on the Island of Brim. All I’d like to add is that I’m reminded that while New Yorkers say “standing online,” the rest of the English-speaking world says “standing in line.” - Jeffrey Stein Garten.

A TRIUMPHANT JOURNEY

I envision triumph, a future aglow
A difference maker in academia's hallowed halls I'll grow
My primary years, a labyrinth of sound
English spoken, a nightmare that wrapped me around

My father's decree, a mandate to conform
English only, a language to adorn
But I was disadvantaged, a sibling apart
Their English-speaking school, a world that left me to depart

Then came Victory Academy, Isua Akoko's shining light
Where literacy and spoken English ignited my sight
I rose through the ranks, Language Prefect, a title I bore
Under Hon. Alabi and Mr. Oladokun's guidance, I explored

Today, I stand tall, a specialist in Education's noble quest
Literature in English and the language itself, I've mastered and possessed
My journey, a testament to perseverance and might
A triumphant tale of overcoming, shining with delight.

The Tragedy of Poet and Poetry

Oh, how sweet you are, Russian poetry! How unapproachable! Let the poet up to your balcony while no one's looking. Spread thy close curtain, love-performing night, that…* But why don’t you send your nurse for a rope ladder? Why do I see doubt in your eyes? I swear, I’m not going to tease your bear, drink your vodka, play balalaika and shoot Kalashnikov. And even if they say that love is too rough, too rude, too boist'rous** - I'll be gentle, delicate and quiet: Russian poets don’t pick kisses by force.

you won’t then maybe
your english speaking sister
will take poet in

My Passion For Writing Poetic Verses

My passion for writing poetic verses,
From Russian readers attracted many curses.
I left Russian sites and feel such freedom.
Alas! I'm cursed by English-speaking readers.

"No Mea Culpa"

The Titanic was fine when it left Belfast
Not a blemish on Her hull, or on her deck
The crew must have done something awful
"Cause now She's a tangled twisted wreak
In mint condition, She was when She left us
We washed and polished Her to shine
Then we went to a pub, to drink some whisky
singing in a chorus, Auld Lang Syne
You can't blame us Irish for what happen
"Cause we went home and slept the night away
"The Titanic was fine when it left Belfast"
At least, that's what we Irish say

My English

It had been very hard for me
to speak with West
through translators,
usually Russians ones
anchored by intelligent services,
KGB or related them
with such or others way.
Sometimes we have met Kyrgyzes mediators,
but they are also spoiled
by soviet or post-soviet propaganda,
hated our own cultures and nashient freedom,
heavily abscessed
by died glory and greatness of USSR
dismantled,
ardently dreamed, poor one,
to return in that golden cage and Edem
exalting.

So I decide one day
from once and onward
damn and curse all of them
my false mediaters!

I want to English
and I will speak, write and dream on it
maybe as one hopeless invalid
but I escape from
various interpretators and interlocators,
fasilitators and falsificators
and traitors and predators
in the great hub of crossroad
of Big Game.

As a philippines
for the sake of future
and for the great advances,
for 100 million people with asian mentality
and heavy burden of past,
they started on English speaking,
thinking, working and entertaining
and have set others things and staff
for realize his dreams - practically and immediately -
creating fast developed modern society
