Good to know that we can be sure that Ms. Claudine Gay
Harvard's newest president was thoroughly vetted, 'the Harvard way'
She's good with Harvard's policy that using the wrong pronoun is abuse
But 'context is required' to discipline those who scream 'Genocide for Jews'
Chewing casual cud
In the barnyard of life
He emptied his brain
Thinking no thoughts
Watching the clouds move
Seeing a dog and a dragon
Floating in the realm of slow down
It was the best day in many days
He never wanted to return to his job
But of course he did, wanting to eat and all.
Tiptoe in the barnyard, for the kitty is on a tear.
He is angry at someone who put creamed corn in his hair.
I had not met kitty yet; did not know he was a full-grown lion.
When I tiptoed past, he turned his head. I thought I might be dy’n.
He gave a yawn but did not make any moves toward me.
I creeped back into the house and said, “Is he at all friendly?”
The farmer’s wife looked out and saw the lion for the first time.
“I don’t know this kitty,” she admitted. “That big guy is not mine.”
She is the talk of the barnyard the alpaca’s whispered in tones.
She is gorgeous, leggy, furry, and she has the prettiest bones.
We were anxious to meet her but were jealous right away of course.
Everyone was super excited about her beauty, even the camel and horse.
Barnyard buddies met in the barn at dawn.
We jumped in puddles, looking for meadow fawn.
She came sometimes, but was not here today.
Wonder why a chick said; I hope she’s okay!
We are close to each other, like sisters and bros.
We sit in the barnyard next to where tall corn grows.
Horse, cow, lambs, hen, rooster, and two kinds of pig.
We like to converse as the people plant, hoe and dig.
We are barnyard buddies, fast friends for sure.
A kind of instant family. Our thoughts are pure.
We love the scent of the country, even that of manure.
Loving the lilacs, and the flash of a fluffy fox fur.
We can talk about everything or nothing at all.
We watch the crops as they grow big and tall.
Pumpkins are my favorite, so orange and round.
In October they are all over our farmer’s ground.
clucking, chortling life
pecking the dust, without strife…

Pigs are snorting as they roll in the mud.
Rabbits are hopping, not afraid of Elmer Fudd.
Chickens are cheeping, the birds are trilling.
Muddy nightcrawlers are silently drilling.
Barnyard is a place of happy liveliness today.
Horse is loving her bucket of grains, oats and hay.
Farmer’s wife has sprinkled feed for the cat.
However, the cat is busy chasing a rat.
Fox did not come to the chicken coop last night.
Large rooster is strutting anyway; he is a sight.
Tiny fluffy yellow chicks are pecking away.
It is a marvelous time in the feed lot today.
The peahen has died
The peacock is heartbroken
He joins the turkeys
Because the chickens are just
Colorless walking feathers.
My chicken has been flickin'
Her feathers in the hay
The cattle waged a battle
In their field the other day
A turkey feeling perky
Jumped up and ran away
Feeling daft, I laughed and laughed,
That's all I've got to say.
Mooing oohing barnyard zooming
Loosy goosy is gently grooming.
True blue moon is choosing looming.
Sue Boo’s moose is rooster booming.
We are through with the foolishness of you two.
Come back in a month after you move in with McGoo
There’s no need for fu dog stew, nothing to prove.
This moony barn is frankly peaceful in its wonderful groove.
Bull bawling with hope
For the new dawn’s feeding trough
Calling for kindness
~
Hay, yellow and dry
Covers the barn floor with hope
For fresh times within
~
Chickens pecking dust
Crowing echoes in the morn
Through signs of the sun
~
Pigs oink in their pen
Craving the food that sustains
Nourishing their dreams
~
Cow pouring white milk
While the calf longs for the tit
Butter and cheese thoughts

In so many ways
Barnyard clowns for sure
Pecking and clucking
Fighting over feed
Some are road kill
Suicidal
Kamikaze

into the barnyard with a high knee-jerk
a yellow duck waddles in with a smirk
it pecks the hens on the rump
Old Mac Donald named it Trump
like the president he's hard up at work
