Years To Come
I'll be at peace with the options never taken
I'll know what dreams weren't worth saving
I'll see the change in the new generations
And the new world they'll be braving
There'll be no turning back
What was once clear will be fading
But the pictures in my mind will stay intact
As my future is no longer awaiting
My skin will be weathered, my old bones will grind
My heroes will be ghosts, my soul will ache to be freed
My shadow will become paler, I'll dismiss the concept of time
I'll feel fear, sadness, gratitude, and onward I'll proceed
As I sit in chair, watching my children and their children, my dear,
A warm satisfaction will fill me for if it wasn't for my existence, none of them would be here
