Words Like Venom
My heart is full of pain
Because I made you cry
I promised I never would
That turned out to be a lie
I'm grateful I couldn't see you
Or the pain on your face
I'll count that as a blessing
That God showed me grace
Everything I said just worsened
And I could feel my heart breaking
Now you are having doubts about
The path this marriage is taking
I knew those words would hurt you
They never should have left my head
I'd give anything I could to take back
Each and every word that I said
Those words, they were like venom
Into the phone, then your heart
The only thing that they accomplished
Was tearing this marriage apart
Will this love that we share
Ever again feel the same way?
Will you trust me with your heart
The same as you did before today?
