Why You Coach

WHY YOU COACH? You will have one Parent that is unhappy. You will get a bad call from an umpire. Your pitcher may be having a bad day. Your batter may be scared to get hit by a pitch. You will play a team better than yours. But this is not why you coach. You coach because, you want to see improvements. You coach because, you want everyone to have fun. You coach because, you want everyone to play as a team. You coach because, you’ve been there and you want to give back what you learned. You coach because, you want to pass down your experience of excellent coaching. You coach because, you love the game. You coach because, it’s not about you. It’s about them!

And nowadays you coach because it may be the last place where the RULES matter. Nice take on the reasons for coaching.

Thank you John. I do Coach and work as an instructor. Too many people Coach for the wrong reasons. Maybe my poem can help remind other coaches, why they started coaching in the first place.
