What night-time entails
It wasn't sleep
Those supine hours
I felt the levels, stacked
Existed in two
My teeth ground, skin now waxy
Sclera peeled to leave red eyes
Bones cold
Airless heat surrounds me, limiting breath
Upon waking my hand goes to my mouth
Lays heavy on my face
Stitches shut my lips beneath my palm
Holds me in place
Stroked fingertips across eyelids
Epithelium gathers over empty sockets
My tongue scratched from incisors
Taste buds prickle seeking comfort
The day stretches ahead
As I fall back into place
Yawn to break free from binds
Blink to recoat the world
