We Don't Know Us
Crowds of people closing in on every side
Trapped on all ends
Just want to hide
Can’t see my friends
Swells like a black hole of sadness
With not a shard of light
Devouring happiness
My world no longer bright
Fear of judgement from another
Scared of a hateful glare
Falling down further
Into a pit of despair
Sitting on a table by myself
Saying I’m happy is a lie
Starting to hate myself
Because I’m shy
To ashamed to admit it
Can’t even discuss
My heart won’t permit it
We don’t know us
The pressure put onto us by society
Pumping into us, anxiety
The depressing feeling
Mind always reeling
Building up self-doubt
Leaving us without the confidence we need
To succeed, and to grow and to show what we can do
The doubts in us will stew
As our self-esteem lowers
We don’t know us
All we know is fear
Which we let steer
We need to escape
We should be able to shape the dark tunnel of life
The never-ending strife
The conflict with ourselves
We need thousands of shelves
We need a break from the person we make
From our worries
You don't notice, we can’t focus
The pressure of all measures,
It's gone and drove us mad
Going to any place, building up sadness and madness
Feeling of little success, climbing up
It’s all a large, hot mess
Too much to handle and we can’t see
The light in the tunnel of darkness isn’t showing
Gleaming, suppressing us, we can’t focus
You don’t know us
And I can’t even focus on typing this sentence
But if I could just breathe
Breathe in, breathe out
The sense of relief
Anxiety and fear can steer, but if we could all just believe
Then those feelings will leave
Show of kindness, be the friendliest version of ourselves
To everyone you see, and meet, and greet
Open your eyes and your heart to others
Especially the ones that struggle, have trouble
It’s human, it’s natural to feel bad
Mad. But we can calm ourselves down
Help those escape the crowd, all those that frown
Leave an imprint, a legacy of helpfulness
Success, we should be impressed!
Leave a positive imprint at the crest of our lives
We all know each other
