We Are Brothers
In the days of knights and dragons,
The warriors settled things with swords.
They raced on horse and in wagons.
Killing enemies for warlords –
Independence was non-existent.
Kings and Lords had specific rights.
But most men were subservient.
And women were for men’s delights.
Italian phrases were applied.
Back in the 18th century,
“Free People are brothers.” inscribed
Still, bloodshed had no boundary.
During our days, men still fight wars.
How is it that we have not learned?
Around the world from shore to shore,
Greed for power is often churned.
In our land and across the sea
It’s time for peace; it must be won.
Freedom, citizens; we must see.
We are all brothers every one.
