In a city once vibrant but now left forlorn,
Where residents vanished, as ghosts, they were torn,
Loneliness was unfiltered, it filled every street.
A hallowed memory of lives was incomplete.
The buildings stood tall, but their hearts turned to stone.
Their windows were empty; their souls felt alone.
The bustling roads, once filled with cheer,
Now echoed with silence, no laughter to hear.
Numb were the hearts of those left behind,
Their spirits were broken, their hopes undermined,
The still, saltish air carried a scent of grief.
As freezing winds whispered tales of disbelief,
The once lively squares turned dreadful and bare.
No footsteps, no voices—just emptiness there.
In the midst of this silence, a cry could be heard.
A desperate plea for life to be restored,
But the city remained motionless, frozen in time.
Its vibrant essence lost a tragic paradigm.
And when angry, the wind would howl and moan.
As if mourning the city's sorrowful tone.
Yet amidst the despair, a flicker of light
A shimmer of hope in the darkest of nights
Even in emptiness, life finds a way.
To bloom in the cracks and bear forth a raw day.
