Unrequited Love
Love that finds no means to return
Stays stuck in a void
Of what if’s and what nots
It makes a loop of an unending cycle
Only to be broken and lay
Spattered
No guilt, no promises
Love that only goes on one path
Is forgotten to all others
But oneself
It carries the faith
Of a thousand loyal devotees
For a god made of cold stone
Staring down on those at his feet
You only a speck in a pile of dust
Love only given
Is a story of nightmares
Tugged into bed of the darkest nights
With tears of smoke
And smiles of glass
No trace of what had stayed
And what hadn’t
It is the utter helplessness
And the strength
To do what one must
To live with a burden
Worthy of skies
While not pouring out
The thunder and the cries.
