Two Clouds
Two Clouds
Arabic poem by: Saad Yassin Yousuf*

========================
The cloud that sheltered me
Yesterday
And rained on my soul
With kisses of affection,
The transient cloud
In the skies of faraway towns
Has never known me before
But she wouldn’t leave my sadness
Before washing it away,
Before dissipating the dreariness of concerns
You planted in me
In a rainstorm of cactus,
And cleansing the wound left behind
By the flashes of doves
You wasted and
Rendered up their feathers to perish in the air.
Rain on me,
Oh transient one!,
To the point of tremor
Of the uniting question;
Perhaps, in the evening,
The flashes of brightness
On the mouth of streets
Would catch me a kiss
As my cloud is no more a shadow
And no more a rainy one,
How would my trees that line
On the trail of my waiting for you
Disperse their blossoms
And come back filled with ecstasy??!!!
