Trust
Just sitting here fighting a bad cold,
waiting for an errant son to come home.
Knowing that once again a lie he's told,
but, hoping that safely home he will come.
Oh, I have heard the expert's arguments
that say establish rules and dominance,
that children need models and sacraments.
Yet, I read of children of prominence,
their failings, and wonder if anyone really
has a handle on how to raise a child?
When do we trust their judgement truly,
allow them mistakes made in our youth wild?
I don't care how bad these sniffles are,
I will wait up until I hear his car.
