Truly Alive
born once again and truly alive!
a newfound bounce to once tired steps,
easy smile on that old, weathered face;
gone is the young boy careless and free,
in comes a man who had seen better days,
his testament, brittle and creaking bones;
wracked by the passage of the years,
wrinkles and greys his badge of honor,
yet irreverent still to laugh at it all;
nagged by every sign of wear and tear
but not wishing to return to a zesty past,
just loving each morning like it is his last;
yeah, born once again and truly alive,
a newfound bounce to once tired steps,
into my dancing shoes, off to the ballroom!
