Transformation

I can't stand the heat of July This month of my birth and its oppressive sky Your sun kisses turn to sun scorched And what lies within in me slowly dies along with the green grass This is the season of my transformation My beginning, my end Last year for my birthday I was given a gift of destruction forced to learn to live with it, I was born again..this new life lies in my hands these changes remain unwanted Every summer I move from Olive to varying shades of Grey as the world around me moves from emerald to amber Under this oppressive sky I push my fingers into the dry ground Letting the Earth and I embrace this together
