Tragic

For tragedies we come together, Though not for long. The fire of intimacy Intimidates, chars fragile façades. Blood bonds over-stretched, Anemic. Silent months pass, when Tentative tentacles reach out, But do not touch. Reliving a past of life bond’s Dilution revived in hard times. The falsity of our closeness Buried in shared grief for a moment. Familiarity creeps in with Sinuous connective threads suggesting safety. Yet these are taut, fraught, stretched to breaking And will leave us again stranded, alone. We drift apart, Each not forgetting the sadness, But forgetting momentary warmth. Dying embers not re-kindling the flame.
