Time Marches On

Eye catching patterns in colourful squares Were carefully stitched by gifted old hands Commissioned for years to sew her fine quilts, Her quilting designs were sought through the lands Each blanket exquisite and full of old charm All labours of love made at home on her farm But time marches on and her eyes had grown tired And at ninety four years she is now long retired

What a beautiful picture you painted of that lovely little lady making a quilt! I went to a quilt show and was surprised~they were all beautiful scenes. Very impressive, but where are the quilts our grandmothers made? A lovely poem, Anne Big hugs to you :)

Lovely write, Anne. At age ninety-four it's wonderful she is still capable of even making a potholder, but to have the energy and will to make a quilt...God bless her! Thank you for your recent visits...much appreciated. Hugs Charlie

You write of an old tradition, one sadly to go where so many others have gone. The poetry is so important in that it highlight what as gone before. Love it.

Thank you Harry for your kind feedback on my newest poem. Yes, long gone are the days of quality hand crafted workmanship. Everything is mass produced now and cheaply made so as not to last. Sadly, profit is all that matters these days. Cheers my friend :-)

This is a sweet story. My wife’s 91 year old mom doesn’t quilt but she’s quite the artist in the kitchen. This is a heartwarming piece. Blessings Richard.

Hi Richard, Lovely to see you popped by :-) Thank you for your kind feedback. Yes it's great to have family who are artists in the kitchen. I'm not very inventive in culinary skills. But I do enjoy eating the delicious dishes that others make. Cheers my friend :-)

Thank you Ann. I too love the old hand made quilts. Hand made goods are always so much nicer. Cheers and hugs to you my friend :-)
