Threnody For Baghdad

Sleepless in my room, The sound of constant thunder And a ceaseless wind; Even the stars are weeping As vengeance consumes the sky. Jim Wilson

I like that it's so short. All you need is the title to reference the event and the rest can focus on the emotional context in which you see it, in which everyone sees it. I couldn't imagine a better description of the stars weeping or the amazing closing line. Great language and overall write. -Yoni

If a war is necessary, it should only be as a defense of one's country, not as a means of oil prospecting or getting even for daddy. Vengeance isn't a reason for war. Good write. Congratulations Jim, on having it featured. Vince

Such a simple and sad truth, however, a wonderful way to describe the futility of war. Stars weeping...such poignant words. I'm loving your poetry. Keep writing...Sincerely, Carrie
