As the alchemy of flames converted spiral-bounds into ashen loam No longer sheltering me o' genius words, it took twenty years to find another poem It gave me peace at the time to well his wings, at 2 years old; it was me you should have took home Of all minstrels throughout the ages, crafting limericks, I could not read for two decades a single solitary tome So I prayed, give me strength again: to pen these things, to want for rhymes, to wield this unending woe, to be happy again in my life's syndrome. There is much more to losing feelings; the ones required for survival The person in life who found me uncomplicated answered a call no one else will ever rival Her unrequited love gave life; resulting in this dead poet's revival

' So I prayed, give me strength again. ' It sounds like ' she ' came into your life when you needed someone to lean on. When a tragedy like this happens, I've been told a heart goes through many phases. This is tender and emotional, yet uplifting, all at the same time. Your thoughts caress gently around me. Congratulations on your honour of POTD today - reading your poem with philosophical thoughts, and your note explaining "alchemy of flames"- I felt incredibly sad, but delighted that "Her unrequited love gave life; resulting in this dead poet's revival". Life is sometimes unbelievably hard - I started writing after a break of thirty years, and like you, I threw away my diary and a few pieces of writings from my young age, and did not touch my writer's pen for a very long time! I will read your poem a couple of times - sending to my FAVES.

Greetings Malabika, It is and will forever be sad that I lost him. However given the age I was when he was born he might have been my only child. I do not morning him anymore. Dear Scorpio, I have to admit the depth of this spiritual awakening POTD required a little home work on my part. You see, I am just a simple poet and not an in depth reader as some are. Thank you Nancy, A brief explanation the alchemy of flames has a dual meaning. I started at thirteen years old, writing poems in spiral bound notebooks. When my first born son died at 2 years old, I burned them all. I was 20. I did not start writing again for twenty five years.About four months before my first poem was posted on The Soup.
