There Is a Place
There is a place where shadows dwell,
And ancient evil slumbers.
A realm we’ve come to know as Hell,
That calls us by the numbers.
When fervid dreams belay the soul,
And cause our hearts to wander.
They lure us to that fetid hole,
A choice we seldom ponder.
Some slowly sink into the mire,
Defiant unto the end.
While others rise above the fire,
Upon the repentant wind.
But those in life who never slowed,
In pursuit of worldly gain,
Ransomed Heaven to walk that road,
Treating God's Word with disdain.
Some proudly say heaven awaits,
For the Lord does not condemn.
They will charge through the Pearly Gates,
While the angels cheer for them.
Others believe they’ll drift away,
Into death’s eternal rest.
With no concerns for where they lay,
Or if they have passed life’s test.
I pray they will achieve their goal,
In not reaping what they sow;
While risking their immortal soul
On the things they think they know.
