The Volcano Sleeps
Atop the rim of the vast hole
I look for the fiery dragon within
Now cooled by time
I crinkle my eyes in the sunlight
Astounded at the wonders beyond
Another world another era
The blue waters attract the tourists
Who visit in their thousands
A tranquil niche from their daily toll
I close my eyes reflecting the past
Only to be wakened by a noise
The splash of the salmon as they leap
I wonder how they first came to this lake
That is history......
My today will be history tomorrow
