The Twelfth of Never

I took a walk in winter And I gazed upon the hills My burdens suddenly lifted And my heart was free of ills Around me swirled the snowflakes Tumultuous as the sea My soul felt lighter and lighter As trembling, I fell to my knees Mind flying with the stars As feelings bounce and ricochet The burning of my breath Is by the cold washed away I see the sights I never knew Could be, through my mind’s eye As lightning melds into sunshine And the sea into the sky The soothing coolness envelops me As my thoughts slow and numb As I lay, tucked away I know my battle is won
