The Survivor Tree
Amongst the debris and devastation,
A sign of life became uncovered,
Scorched and bare of leaves,
A single tree was recovered.
Nursed with love and care,
Back to its former glory,
It stands in pride of place,
Surviving, to tell its very own story.
Side by side the other trees,
Once again proud and tall,
It remains forever green,
Winter, spring, summer and fall.
As the other trees lose their leaves,
That single tree keeps its crown,
It's survived more than just the saesons
As the world around it came crashing down.
There's life within its branches now,
Both its own and nesting birds,
It's heartwarming to see,
There really aren't enough words.
One single tree is a reminder,
That not all hope was gone,
They Will Not Win,
We Will Continue On.
