The Sirens of the Seas

sailors take warning before you set sail say a prayer that your ship will survive the ocean's swell and take heed that the danger does not only lie above but also beneath the blackness of the fathomless sea where sirens exist only to beckon poor men to their watery graves they are the temptresses with flowing dark hair who sing their daunting songs along the rocky shores tempting seamen to join them far below where briny seas swallow them whole do not hearken to these alluring creatures for they will hypnotize you with their mournful refrain forcing you to jump ship into your aquatic prison forever entombed within the black realm of the sirens of the seas March 31, 2017

Your words bring back the chapter in the Iliad where they men had to be tied down in order not to give in to the voices of the Sirens. Thanks for this one, Sonia.

Lin, thank you for your kind comment. It has been years since I read the Iliad. Apparently, those seductive sirens have been around for a long time. ~ Sonia
