The Raccoon

The morning quiet
It did not last long
I was doing chores
In another room
The quiet broken
Maggie growls and barks
She is excited
I went to see why
Outside the glass door
Upon the wide deck
Stood a huge raccoon
Eating the peanuts
Then eating bird seeds
He had a big feast
The birds and the squirrels
Ran off in a big rush
From the huge raccoon
They were scared of him

What a sight dearest Darlene! Once, camping on the top of Rosemond mountains near, Montreal, in the middle of the night I heard something approaching! The footsteps were becoming louder and louder on the dead leaves and then they stopped after that the sound of repeated sniffs caught my attention . I took my flashlight opened my tent and walked out holding a knife in my hand for I did not know what I would see! To my surprise a large Racoon stood there looking at me ! Thank God it was not a wolf! Thank you for reminding me that!
