The Peak
needless to say
she’s bursting at the seams---
she’s in her 30’s &
she’s heard all the rumors
that it’s downhill from here---
24/7, like a teenage boy’s
one track mind,
she’s got sex rumbling round
behind the retinas &
suddenly every man that shows her
any appreciation,
is the next one to be served on the
platter---
what is it that the older women in
their lives tell them,
which frightens them, which makes them
distraught?
what truth about
the peak,
is buried deep within the colossal let down
of age &
the depression that follows &
what does it mean to a woman,
to just want to **** &
pick up the pieces of everything else,
after the dust clears?
