The pain of genetics

To all the people in darkness
Lemmi shed some light
So that you can see into my world
A world so big that sometimes I get lost in it

If you've ever met me in person
You were left in awe
Cause I've been able to make sheer will
bend to my calling, that's why I've never crumbled

It's because amidst the madness
I've managed to make sense of haemophilia
It's a lifetime journey that I've had to learn to walk with
If I didn't, I'd have died way before my story began, in '07

I can't speak for all people with genetic conditions
But I can speak on the fear it paralyses you with
Cause imagine juggling life and death on a daily
And still, be able to go after that dream

If you've ever come across anyone with health issues
You'd have seen what human despair feels like
When all people can do is console you
And you have to find your way through it

That's why I forged a different path for myself
A lonely path that it's just me and my God
So that even when I fall, no one is there to see
And when I can no longer keep pushing, God pushes me on

On this path, I've lost hope
And months on met up with it again
Cause even when I left it downhill,
it followed me through those dark alleys

When all that gets you going is a hazy image
Of what the top looks like
But because you've already lost everything
You have nothing to lose other than keep going

Somedays vultures are circling over me
Looking on if I'd give into the pain
But I keep puffing and wriggling
Cause I've endured a lot to just give up

To all the people still in darkness
Lemmi shed some light on you
And tell you health is the true wealth
If you have that, there's no way you know what I go through
Cause you can't carry my cross but everyone else walks with the cross of humanity
