The Melancholy of a Poet
Melancholy in the heart of a poet,
Is like ten smiles of a summer gaze;
Tho' with sadness he may oft be greeted,
Yet in such may lie his sunniest days.
For when anon the world is muted
And nature in its softest voice speaks,
The melancholic heart of a true poet
Often ascends to the highest peaks.
