The Life of a Homeschooler

Dreaming through the night, Until the sun shines bright. Deep into sleep, When your alarm clock makes a beep. It's seven o'clock, time to start the day! Get dressed, get ready, no time to play! You've brushed your teeth, combed your hair, Now, for school, in a comfy chair. You head to the place where learning is done, And soon exclaim, "Homeschooling is fun!" Writing, reading, spelling, galore! After history you shout, "For today, no more!" But no, the day is not over yet! It's time for fun you'll never forget. Maybe you'll make a movie, or invent a game! In a homeschooler's life, no day is the same. Sadly, now, the day is done. But to a homeschooler, the fun has just begun! So my friend, show no sorrow, Because there are many more fun things to do tomorrow!

:) My girl is in Kindergarten, but I am now homeschooling her once a week. I felt she wasn't getting enough one on one tutorial time, and the expectation is that she be comfortable reading by September. Her reading skills have improved in only three weeks (three days of homeschooling.) I believe in free play, too. Weekends should not be a time to cram in all the teaching which schools are unable to provide Monday to Friday. At five, she has homework? The expectations of what should be accomplished AFTER school is just ridiculous. There are good things about her school, and I do appreciate what teachers do on a daily basis. But twenty-seven children in one classroom? Yesterday, the parents received an advisory email which warned that ten children were away sick! I believe some of the children are actually feeling stress! In kindergarten! Anyways, thanks for this poem. Yes. Schooling at home makes for a full and fun day. WELL SAID :)
