The Letter
There were pups outside my house
But I never heard them barking
My mind was still on you
There were stars in the sky
But I never saw them sparkling
Your letter was my only view
And there was soft music playing
The singer telling me not to despair
But I couldn’t listen to what he was saying
My ears had nothing it wanted to hear
There had been love I hoped would last
No, your letter put that to rest
I’ll regrettingly be focused on the past
When our times together were the best
