The Journey That Changed Me
Hardly anyone would I trust,
In my dark days, they are now past,
Altered me was the journey last,
And the change came rather too fast.
When the goal seemed to be too tough,
And I didn't have the strength enough,
To take on the forces so rough,
Arrogance, out, I had to cough.
Luxury as my food became,
And hunger would drive me insane,
Then water and juice were the same,
Wished, a lone wolf I did not tame.
Soft pillows were just a dream when,
Earth's arms gave me the comfort then,
I slept without counting sheep ten,
Like a lion in his own den.
When every milestone took too long,
In between two, there was a song,
And they proved my decision wrong,
Wished I was a tad bit more strong.
To diminish this greyish hue,
Around me, I'm sure, angels flew,
Made me fresh as the morning dew,
And back my strength, I felt I drew.
With their soft hands, they caressed me,
And a bright light, they made me see,
Which guided me in this journey,
The journey that had now changed me.
I now can see the light in dark,
Even if it's just a small spark,
I believe can ignite a fire,
And sure light a helping desire,
For the weak and the powerless,
And those who seem to be a mess.
Demon then turns to an angel,
Makes the world a place livable,
Lift the trodden upon to feet,
And join their magnificent fleet,
Of rays of brilliant sunshine,
To make the world a place too fine.
Now I faith the folks around me,
And my body's limits I see,
I'm glad I made this journey,
The journey that has changed me.
