You mentioned 'Masala' and Shankar in you poem and I'm tempted to say that my Dad who was a master musician taught the great L Subramaniam, who wrote the Musical Score for 'Mississippi Masala'. Though he hadn't met Ravi Shankar personally, but knew of him, he taught another Great Conductor Zubin Metha (the late Pavarotti's conductor and conductor of the California Symphony) who no doubt knew Shankar. I am delighted you mentioned your father's impressive musical credentials, you must be so proud. I love the sitar and Indian movies!! :) Zubin Metha! yes everybody knows him here in L.A. (Los Angeles Philharmonic) The Hollywood Bowl, nearby is the Greek Theatre both Open-Air its were I frequently go, last I saw were the Gypsy Kings. As you can see, I move in different circles, there is so much music choices to love. Maria, I found Mississippi Masala stars Denzil Washington, and I will watch it tonight.
