The Freedom of Speech

My soul is crushed and heavy Beneath the words I kept within Weighed down it’s caged, it’s silent A dark place of wondering If anything could have changed. Should I have said what's inside? In my dreams, I speak them I say all I wished to But my nightmares are silent Unspoken words drift around Maybe everything would change if I had the strength to speak Would speaking them free me? Would my soul be easy and light Maybe the words will end me Or I’ll accept my whole past And next time I’ll speak freely But one day my soul will be free.
