The Fish and the Rat

Assumed best in all people under sun, Generous with love, the Fish never done. Every true smile was his only desire; Never thought to be target of fire. Truth be told maybe some were just evil. Scurried around, these rats love upheaval. Assuaged by his anxiety, they bite… Marking him for continuing worse plight. Usurped generous crown, Rat is anointed. Radicals, through poison mark appointed. A stray in this world divorced by his school; Isolated by all in acid pool. Treachery caused his digital world’s end, Hooked by all those considered as close friend. Ends reign as King of generosity; Friends led astray by a monstrosity. Insulated by love of his own blood. Saved, maybe? upon arrival of flood… Hands reach out as if his life to be saved, Together they all just pointed and waved. Hurt by those to whom he gave so much love, Allowed betrayed hands wearing the slick glove, To let slip into an ocean abyss. Swimming in deep sea, ready for death’s kiss. Wanton, evil rats embarked ocean raft. All deceived by usurper King, so daft! Marked, embarrassed diving deeper within, Away from those never sought underpin. Why must the evil prevail in this way? Against these odds, the Fish evades the quay, Yet, life under the sea, he now must weigh.

What we do to them, we'll end up doing to ourselves and much worse. We cannot disrespect this earth forever without consequences. While we call it progress, I fear that we're actually regressing. Well worded and thought-provoking.
