The Feeling of Being Alone

My grandson gave me this first line and said write a poem about this. Actually he was singing the first line. nobody knows the feeling of being alone nobody but me, except when I join the noisy crowd still, even then I’ve a feeling that nobody knows how obviously still alone and lonelier still and sadder even as the crowd moves in claustrophobic circles and I draw back until a familiar voice my own dares to brave a “hello” dash a smile at another lonely soul

Sounds like you shared a sweet moment together dealing with loneliness. The word, 'nobody' shares the long 'o' of alone, and chimes in this poem to let me the reader enter in. Knowing the back-story sweetens it even more when the gentle bravery comes in. J :)

Your last two lines are so emotive. Indeed it costs nothing to give a stranger a welcoming smile. It may make all the difference to their mood of the day. Well said dear Kim - Hugs Maria

A beautiful poem! It's so nice that all it takes is two kindred spirits to banish loneliness. What an intriguing and interesting first line your grandson provided! Very best wishes. :)

I love when any of my grandkids find a poetry coonection. They are listening. One granddaughter, when she started college, texted me that her professor was a poetry laureate. Some good poetry. Thank you and for your PS friendship <3
