The Death of a Child
Sun-dappled forest, flowers Blossom and new
create shallow enough for her to Wade through
a rabbit hops buy, friendly but free
and joins her in the shade of a sweet apple tree
crickets sing her lullaby, the clouds kiss her goodnight
nothing here could harm her, nor could they cause a fright
soft flowers, Moonlight, trees from which she swung
such is the heaven of a child that died too young
