The Curtain of Pain Fell Upon Us
We swam in the torrent of tender twilight
across the surge of crescendo of stardust salsa
to the broken edge of the warped night,
melting in the cauldron of resurrected horizon,
the ecstasy of the sunburst dawn entwined us.
We floated on the ripples of the jasmine breeze
in the wake of satin shadow of catamaran cloud,
grace glided on the azure sea of the sky at ease,
and we soared high on the canopy of belonging,
braced by the tapestry of our verdant love.
With its silken strands we weaved a nest
on the cradle of the bough of a faithful oak,
our joyful haven of warmth in cold cuddling nights
waiting for the chicks to don the glimmer of dew,
and twitter the tune of the autumn zephyr,
whispering to the rustle of the sunset leaves.
As several autumns came and went passed us,
they grew the nascent wings of fervent freedom,
and flew away to the far-flung sky of their dream,
found rootless niche in the world of obscurity.
At the closing scene of the falling pensive night,
in the empty nest of the desert hearts parched,
we conserved the frail feathers of memory they left,
while the curtain of pain fell upon us.
