mark reality by a notch in a tree honest recognition of the not dissimilar I wish I wouldn't notice so much - try to make it out I should dress smart, stare blankly be cut in half whenever required - but how could I find myself then? add up the sum of the parts everything is whole, then stop or risk being outside looking on losing bits of self as they travel to unseen edges nothing is out of place unless you overlook or maybe a double negative of the reverse a fraction of mind working overtime under utilising the power of caring less

No maths required when looking at painters Anaya. Reviewing their MO and then stepping back for an objective view tends to reveal the most. Most painters have a reputation that's very telling too. The well dressed man is a recurring theme in Magritte paintings - he's always the same but the scene changes. Like I say, looked at objectively, no maths required at all because it is as clear as day. I leave the maths for those that like calculating. Maths isn't my thing.

Aww thank you Ink! I do love Brian's contests - they give me motivation to write and think out of the box. I owe a lot to Brian as a sponsor. He's not shy about giving me NAs, so my 1st places always mean a lot when they come around. I appreciate your support also, very much valued. Poetry is such an important craft.

Ah this is such a deep and thought provoking poem and interpretation of the artwork! How you’ve written on perspectives etc is very fitting for the artwork! And what an interesting artwork, i dont think i can write on that. You always find something deep from anything and turn it into poetry! I see the philosopher within you through lines such as “ nothing is out of place unless you overlook or maybe a double negative of the reverse” that hits deep! And made me pause! An impeccable take! Pleasure reading! Best wishes in the contest

Thank you so much Ink! I look at so many paintings until I find one that sparks something, so I'm not sure I can write about anything (I can't describe a rose haha). I love letting my mind wander then seeing what I make of it once it's done. Thank you for your kind words, valued

This one really messes with the mind Dilly, duality seen all at once is insane, your poem is completely fitting and compliments the painting, how you come up with the wording for these pieces is a testament to your mastery of the Ekphrasis, and unmatched on the soup, cheers David

It's a joy when it happens (after my two days with nothing). I thought of the phrase 'not dissimilar' then wrote the rest quickly to ensure I kept the ball rolling. I'm not even sure I do ekphrasis as intended but I like the little niche I have pairing with paintings. I'm sure your crossword skills help you decipher my poems :) thanks for your supportive words

It's Monday, should be made a national don't care day. Is the man in the suit turning his back on suburbia and heading back to nature. Or maybe the other way round. One part in, one part out.

I missed a trick not factoring in a hokey cokey reference in retrospect :) he seems less than impressed with nature or suburbia. Thanks for your comment :)
