THE BEAST STILL LINGERS
The thunderstorm slows, the rain abates
There is that eerie wind, then silence
that follows like a stray dog and you
remember screaming as the rain poured in
cursing, every curse you knew. And now
all is silence, a steady drip in the kitchen
And the raving maniac that you became
is quiet, the fire forgotten for now
But like the storm the beast still lingers
And now the storm has passed
taking my anger with it.
